This is a pretty clever hack for an old Scrabble board. I must admit, seeing someone take an X-acto knife to an old board like this is a bit unsettling, but the end result is pure gold. I am definitely making myself a set of those tile push-pins.

Scrabble Keyboard

Now here’s something you don’t run across every day – a keyboard where the letters have been replaced with Scrabble tiles. Commissioned by a couple of friends of the developer, the keys are made from real tiles that were all hand-beveled. The Caps Lock key was even beveled through to show the green light.

Apparently response was so overwhelming, he is thinking of creating a batch of them for sale. Completely unrelated note: My birthday is in late July. :-)

So I Decided to Create a Blog About Scrabble…

Hello there, and welcome to my new blog. I will admit right up front – this might be one of the nerdier things I have ever done. And I have done an awful lot of nerdy things. But what the hell, right?

I love playing online Scrabble (and the many clones out there) – and it’s clear others do too. Why not create a place where all the word game geeks can go?

I should also admit that I am far from a Scrabble God. I would consider myself to be pretty decent, but I have been on the receiving end of too many vocabulary-based beatdowns to have a monster ego about it.

Blog Goals

I have a few simple goals for this blog:

  • Promoting “word-game geekiness” – In my humble opinion, word nerds rule. The more of them running around this world, the better.
  • Improving my readers’ game-playing ability – While I’m no genius, I have picked up a few tips and tricks that will help improve your game.
  • Creating a community – Let’s get to know one another and share the fun.
  • Sharing the creativity of others – There are some neat Scrabble-related things being done around the Internet. I’ll find ‘em and share ‘em.

Stay in the Loop

If you find anything I say to be interesting, please feel free to stay in touch. Subscribe to my RSS Feed and follow me on Twitter. Leave a comment on one of my articles. Post your scores on Twitter by putting “#scrabble” in your “tweet.”

Oh, and tell your friends. Happy Scrabbling! :-)
